Water, light and the road.
Danza Abierta is a program of the Universidad de Costa Rica, that allows aspiring students of all levels and backgrounds to have direct contact with profesional dancers and their activities. This video narrates their sessions during the first semester of 2011.
Second draft of the upcoming videodance project, working in tandem with Verónica Monestel. This has changed a lot since my last post.
Once again, this is a live, onstage, installation, where the dancer interacts with the video, and uses a (very filtered) mike to produce sounds onstage. Her audio input signal is also used to trigger audiovisual events. In the future, the surfaces will be changed to three dimensional objects, and video feed will be used to apply texture and movement. All content is synchronized live; prerecorded content will be used just as building blocks
Now I’m using MaxMSP/Jitter instead of Processing, since I needed a more robust video generation tool. Also, I’m using the trial version of MadMapper to separate the video projection over several different surfaces. Ableton Live is used for audio generation, and live voice filters.
Since this is a very early, brainstorming stage, I don’t have video yet.

First draft of a new upcoming videodance project. A dancer on stage, using a wireless controller (built with Arduino Uno and XBee 2) to interact with the video projected on the back.
The video reacts to the dancer’s input, projects live vieo and is controlled backstage via an iPad.
OSC for iPad-computer comminication, and Processing for the main program.
